FIRST EDITION. Charlevoix was a Jesuit priest who travelled to Santo Domingo by way of Quebec and New Orleans. He writes extensively about the history of Santo Domingo from 1492-1724, and includes detailed maps of the island, as well as Venezuala, Panama, and Vera Cruz.
