"Points out the value of the North American colonies and the desirability of encourageing trade with them, and recommends the fortifying and settlement of Nova Scotia" (Waldon, p.317). Alden comments this work "Argues for retention of Cape Breton & settlement of Nova Scotia; also refers to New England & Newfoundland." "This pamphlet was written to demonstrate the value of the North American colonies to Great Britain, and in order to encourage trade with them. ... The fact of the importance of settling affairs in the newly acquired colony of Nova Scotia was raised, and its value as a barrier against the French in Canada and Louisbourg was stressed" (Lande 539).
