AN INVITATION TO DINE WITH PRESIDENT JACKSON. A rare invitation to dine at the Jackson White House, early in Old Hickory's second term. "The President Requests the honor of Mr. Miller's Company at dinner Thursday the 26th inst at 5 o'clock. The favor of an Answer is desired."
The recipient is almost certainly Representative Jesse Miller (1800-1850) of Pennsylvania, a Jacksonian Democrat who served two terms in Congress, 1833-1836 and was appointed First Auditor of the Treasury Department by Jackson, serving until 1842.
