First Dutch edition of Lafitau's encyclopedic account of the Iroquois mission of Sault Saint-Louis. Lafitau, a Jesuit missionary assigned to Canada from 1711-1718, served at St. Louis from 1712-1717. His work provides great detail relating to the customs, religious beliefs and social organization of the Iroquois amd Hurons. Howes L-22; Sabin 38598.
