The pendant designed as an openwork plaque, centering upon a cabochon emerald, within a square and rectangular-cut emerald surround, suspended by a similarly-set stylized ribbon surmount, the reverse enhanced by polychrome enamel, to the three-strand pearl necklace, (one emerald and enamel motif deficient), 29½ ins., 17th century
The pearls have not been tested for natural origin

Lot Essay

This lot was believed to have been recovered from the Spanish treasure ship, Nuestra Senora de Atocha, which sank near the Florida Keys in 1622.
