PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF LUCILLE ROBERTS The diva of women's health and fitness revolutionized this very concept in the late 1960's, creating the first unique 'women-only' gym environment in the Northeast, enabling her patrons to achieve physical excellence at affordable prices. Lucille Roberts rose as a superstar in her field, authored two successful books and was a featured guest celebrity on countless television shows, captivating audiences with her exuberance and grand scale lifestyle. Her many homes included one the most magnificent townhouses in New York, the original Woolworth Mansion, which, in later years, became the residence of Cary Grant and Barbara Hutton. Mrs. Robert's enormous Southampton estate was the venue for lavish dinner parties, where she entertained the most elite of social circles and after, she would winter in the family residence at the renowned Breakers in Palm Beach. As a young child, Lucille and her family escaped the Nazi occupation of Europe, entering the United States through the portals of Ellis Island. Mrs. Roberts never looked back and went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Business School. She was also a founding member of the Harvard Women's Alumnae Society of New York, a member of The Young President's Organization and, furthermore, a mentor in Big Sisters of New York, working with the Mayor's office to provide academic credit to high school students. For her efforts and achievements, Mrs. Roberts was named New York Woman of the Year in 1990. Since her untimely death in 2003 at the young age of 59, her sons Kirk and Kevin have carried on Mrs. Robert's vision, that women everywhere be given the opportunity to look and feel their best. Today, the chain includes over 50 women's fitness centers and a franchise division, generating over $50 million dollars per year; the astounding legacy of a pioneer and the epitome of the American dream.
