AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER
MID 4TH CENTURY B.C.
Side A: naked youth holding a thyrsos in right hand, cloak over left arm, holding out a wreath to seated lady holding kantharos and thyrsos
Side B: two draped youths each with staff, confronting at altar, a writing tablet bound with cord above and pair of jumping weights at either side
Foliate wreath under rim, palmette under each handle, details in added white, repaired
14½ in. (36.6 cm.) high

Formerly in a private collection, Glyn Park, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland, acquired 1950s-1960s.
