A GREEK GEOMETRIC BRONZE HORSE HARNESS ORNAMENT
CIRCA 8TH-7TH CENTURY B.C.
In the form of 15 'teeth' with conical-headed terminals, a snake head at each end of the crossbar above, with central pierced tang for suspension, 3¼ in. (8.3 cm.) high; a Greek bronze vessel rim and tripod stand, the rim with short neck incised with band of guilloche between linear borders, the twin handle attachment plates in the form of lion heads with ring loop above, with arched handle, the stand decorated with incised tongues, Ionic capitals above the lion paw feet, circa 5th Century B.C., 9¾ in. (24.7 cm.) and 2 5/8 in. (6.6 cm.) high respectively; and a green glass beaker or lamp inscribed XC, with additional stemmed foot, repaired, 8¾ in. (22.3 cm.) high (4)
