Each with cartouche-form padded back, scrolled arms and seat covered in gros point floral needlework on a crimson ground, the giltwood frame in the form of twisted rope with knotted front seat-rail, on cabriole legs and knotted feet, the front legs spliced and with other repairs, some re-railing, regilt, with label 'FK250'

Lot Essay

Nicolas-Antoine Fournier is recorded in 1850 working from premises at No.109 boulevard Beaumarchais until 1867 when he is recorded at No.12 boulevard des Capucines. A pair of side chairs by Fournier were exhibited at the 1867 Exposition Universelle, (Christopher Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, Antique Collectors Club, 1981).
