Crossbanded throughout and inlaid with flowers and foliage and rosette lattice panels, the door centred by a roundel depicting mythological figures and the rounded corners with foliate herms bearing scallop shells, with a lion mask-centred apron and shaped foliate mounted feet, stamped to the reverse 'PRETOT'

Hippolyte-Edmé Pretot is recorded at 16, rue de l'Abbaye in 1836 and 11bis, rue Saint-Germain-des-Pr©s in 1841. From 1846 he was located at 3 and 5 rue du Harlay. He exhibited in Paris at the 1849 Exposition Nationale and then in 1852 at the London Exhibition where he was awarded a medal.
