Worked with silk and metal threads, depicting the narrative of Judith and Holofernes, Judith with a seed pearl necklace, within a landscape with castle in the far distance with mica windows within a border of animals and foliate sprays and headed by a coat-of-arms and two crests, the sides initialed KL and EL, in an ebonized frame set inside a later tortoiseshell frame, the reverse with chalk inscriptions 2154, 5237 and 41607 and also with remnants of a paper label
25 x 29 in. (63.5 x 73.5 cm.) overall, sight 16 x 20 in. (40.5 x 51 cm.)
