Lot Essay

This kneehole desk was previously the property of Leonard Rose (1918-1984), the renowned cellist and a member of the Isaac Stern Trio. He was also a talented teacher, at The Juilliard School of Music from 1946 and the Curtis Institute from 1951 until 1962. His students included Lynn Harrell and Yo-Yo Ma as well as many cellists in major American orchestras.
