The LMS (ex-MR) Class 3 4-4-0 locomotive and tender No.773,
scratch built by K. Woodhead with external details including fluted coupling rods, brake and sanding gear, riveting, firebox washout plugs, lubricator and pipework, reach rod and cross shaft, some scale cab and backhead fittings, steps, hand and lamps irons and lamp (some minor paint loss and full-plate detached). Tender details include brake gear, toolbox, watercock, filler cap and vents, steps, hand and irons irons, and other details. Finished in pre-1928 LMS livery by L. Goddard -- 9.5 x 39.5cm. (3¾ x 15½in.)

Lot Essay

This model represents the superheated Deeley development of the Class 3 Midland Railway Belpaire-boilered 4-4-0 (of which the first 60 examples were originally designed by Johnson) as it would have appeared in early LMS days.
