Lot Essay

This species is better known as the Carcharodom Megalodon and was once believed to be related to the great white shark. It is in fact a distant cousin of the mako shark and is thought to have grown to approximately 17m. in length, to have weighed eight times more than a great white and to have hunted whales as it cruised the oceans 5 million years ago.
