Of square section with applied buttresses at the corners, the hinged cover with an openwork scrolling briar and flower motif over a red enamelled ground, with a hammered finish, fitted with a later green glass liner, marked on back and inside cover, the base engraved 'OMAR RAMSDEN ET ALWYN CARR ME FECERUNT MCMX'
