Of oval boat shape with a crenellated border, supported on four fluted stylised paw feet, with supports for two differing casters with detachable covers and two mustard pots, each with a conforming spoon and a green glass liner, with a central overhead part ivory handle, fully marked, the side engraved 'Omar Ramsden me Fecit'

Lot Essay

Recorded in Ramsden's workbooks this cruet, listed as 'Boat Cruet, number 1797' was another commission for G. W. Poulton, the owner of a Kettering shoe making firm. Poulton also commissioned Ramsden to produce a jewel casket and a gold cigarette case, see lot 34 and 46.
