An English unusual oak grande sonnerie longcase clock
The stepped breakarch hood with outset reeded columns and glazed side panels, moulded frame to trunk door with star inlay, conforming plinth to the plinth with later stepped foot, the 12½ in. cut-away brass dial with engraved border, silvered and arcaded chapter ring with Roman and Arabic chapters, velvet-applied centre with seconds ring, signature plaque around the date aperture, signed Seddon, the applied arch with subsidiary age of moon ring, its centre with velvet covering and penny moon indication, the eight day movement with five ringed pillars, the quarters struck on six nested bells and the hour on further bell, later seatboard; associated, mid 18th century -- 84 in. (213.5 cm.) high
