The hood with mirror panels to the cresting and outset fluted columns, blind fret panel above flame-veneered trunk door flanked by reeded pilasters, with quoined decoration to a plinth with raised panel, the cut-away 13 in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with inner concentric calendar ring, gilt hatch-engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring, signed WM. WINSTANLEY WIGAN above the silvered and painted rolling moon in the arch, lacking date hand, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 92 in. (234 cm.) high
