The finely carved mask and ring handles, with their distinctive floppy ears and rather hang-dog expressions, appearing on the narrow sides of this elegantly simple bottle are typical of those found on bottles attributed to link it to the Master of the Rocks School. The use of the material is superb, retaining the skin color only for the two mask handles, and one can see why such restraint was exercised in this unusual carving from the school.
