Lot Essay

A very similar dish is in the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha (John Carswell: Iznik Pottery for the Ottoman Empire, Doha, 2003, no.11, pp.50-51). The two are very similar indeed, even to the extent of the decoration on the exterior including the rings under the foot. It seems very probable that both were made in the same atelier.
