OTTOMAN TURKEY, CIRCA 1575
Of bulbous form on short foot rising to slightly flaring mouth with simple loop handle, decorated with all-over design of pairs of white split-palmettes with blue highlights forming cusped panels containing red fish-scale, against a ground of green fish-scale, the base with a register of stylized marbling, a zig-zag band of blue on white ground at the waist and a band of white and red half rosettes on blue ground at the mouth, a few smalls areas of paint at mouth and on body
