What gives this jug particularly powerful movement is the branches which curl over the groups of three leaves and form an arcade. This is found on a jug with original cover in the Gulbenkian Collection from slightly earlier in the century which uses the manganese and sage green palette (Maria qQeiroz Ribeiro: Iznik Pottery ,Lisbon, 1996, no.19, p.126).
