FINE RARE WINES FROM AN AMERICAN FAMILY COLLECTION

SCRUPUOUSLY PURCHASED WINES REPRESENTING ONLY THE FINEST EXAMPLES FROM EACH OF THE WORLD'S MAJOR WINE REGIONS. FIRST GROWTH BORDEAUX, DRC, GAJA, GRANGE, YQUEM, CRISTAL AND LOADS OF TOP-FLIGHT CALIFORNIA REDS, THIS CELLAR HAS IT ALL.

REMOVED FROM A CLIMATE CONTROLLED STORAGE FACILITY.

The punctilious owners of this cellar put together one of the most meticulously organized and astutely selected cellars we have seen. Each case was color-coded by region and grape and then painstakingly cataloged by the owners and laid to rest. Nearly every last bottle comes from unopened original wooden cases and cardboard cartons. Walking through the neatly stacked cases was like taking a world tour of wine beginning with Bordeaux, represented almost entirely by First Growths. The collection of Italian wines is one of the most extensive we have encountered, overflowing with Gaja, Solaia, Tignanello and the like. California is equally displayed with lot after lot of classics such as Beringer, BV, Stag's Leap and Opus One. Burgundy is represented by only the finest with original wooden cases of DRCs for red and Drouhin for white. An important offering of Penfolds emblematizes Australia. Sparkling wines and stickies from both here and abroad complete what is an exemplary collection.

Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1982
Pauillac, 1er cru classé
Levels: two very top and one top shoulder
Great nose needs time to open out, then peppers. Hot fiery currants on the palate, lots of spices, clean, that lovely satin feel that great Lafite has, great balance & very long. Sumptuous wine. Many years left. ***** Sep 2002 DW
