CAYMUS VINEYARDS
In 1941, Charlie and Lorna Wagner purchased farmland within what is now known as the Rutherford AVA. In the 1960's, they ripped up the orchards and instead planted the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that were to become the centerpiece of some of California's most famous wines. The first vintage of the now legendary Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon "Special Select" appeared in 1975. Since 1985, when Chuck Wagner assumed full-time winemaking responsibilities, Caymus Vineyards has never looked back. Wine from the original Cabernet Sauvignon plantings still forms the cornerstone of what is now considered one of America's greatest wines, and today Caymus Special Select looks back on three decades of unrivalled success.
