STRABO (63 B.C.-24 A.D). Geographia, edited by Isaac Casaubon [Geneva:] Eustathius Vignon, 1587. 2° (355 x 218mm). Latin and Greek type, double column, double-page Mercator world map bound before quire a (354 x 590mm), engraved architectural title and divisional title, head and tailpieces and initials (map rehinged, first three leaves creased, some light marginal dampstaining, a few leaves lightly browned). Contemporary reversed calf over paper boards (worn, chipped, hinges cracked). Provenance: Bibliotheca M.S. Cigiranni (contemporary inscription on title page) -- erased armorial bookplate on pastedown -- François de Curzon (inscription on pastedown) -- B. de Curzon (owner's inscription on pastedown). This edition of the Geographia was issued with the FIRST EDITION of Gerard Mercator's world map of 1569 condensed into double hemispherical form by his son Rumold.
