Even in the late 1950s it was becoming clear that the Bentley S-Series (and the Rolls-Royce equivalent Silver Cloud Series) were becoming dated despite revitalisation when the straight six engine of the S1 was superseded with a vee-eight for the SII and SIII. After several years of development work to evolve a new model which could utilize the vee-eight engine and simultaneously up-date the specifications of the whole car, the T-Series Bentley was announced in 1965. It was of unitary construction and had independent suspension and disc brakes all round; the styling reflected the latest trends. Although the vee-eight engine continued much as before, the cylinder heads had been re-designed to make the sparking plugs more accessible and the General Motors GM400 Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic gearbox was chosen for the new car and fitted to all T1's from 1968.

This 1973 model was purchased by Sir Walter Burrell from Jack Barclay Limited in 1975 as a replacement for his existing T-Series Saloon. The Bentley remained in that family ownership until 1997, when sold by Christie's to the current owner. Over the last 8 years the Bentley has continued to be used with some regularity, particularly at Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts club events, such as the Annual club rally and other regional gatherings. Its maintenance in recent times has been at the hands of capable mechanics and garages.

The car has attractive Larch green paintwork with a black top and beige leather interior trim. The front bar sports a period AA badge. The Bentley is offered with a current MOT and the mileage is now showing approximately 60,000, some of which is supported by copies of old bills from Jack Barclay Ltd.
