This George II 'India-back' parlour chair pattern has an Ionic-scrolled 'vase' splat and lion-paw feet that relate to those of a Cantonese chair dated to the 1730s (C. Crossman, The Decorative Arts of the China Trade, Woodbridge, 1991, p. 233).
