Lot Essay

The picture is sold with a letter dated 9 April 1997 from Professor Ugo Ruggeri stating that, on the basis of a colour transparency, he believes the picture to be an autograph late work by Francesco Guardi (Venice 1712-1793) and datable to circa 1775-1785.
