Lot Essay

Isaac Israels travelled frequently through Italy in the 1920's, often
in the company of his girlfriend, Mrs Sophie de Vries. One of his favourite subject matters in Italy were the popular beach resorts such as Viareggio and the Lido in Venice, where he painted bathers on the beach in the strong sunlight of the Mediterranean.

We are grateful to Joop van Roosmalen for his help in cataloguing this lot.
