SOUTH EAST PERSIA, CIRCA 1890
The indigo field with scrolling leafy branches issuing floral sprays and palmettes with perching birds surrounding a roundel depicting Ahmad Shad between a decorative stylised column on either side supporting a wine-red mihrab filled with stylised boteh and flowering vine, the part ivory pictorial spandrels below and a pictorial cross-panel above containing an inscription cartouche, in an indigo animal, portrait roundel and flowering vine border between wine-red floral meander stripes and a repetitive linked leaf outer stripe, full pile throughout, overall excellent condition
