Shaped as a pomegranate, enamelled with peony, camellia and small summer flowers amongst broad serrated overlapping leaves, the handles modelled to one side as a stem and a twig to the opposite end, the decoration repeated to the cover and moulded to the top with three pomegranates around a twig finial, damages

Lot Essay

The 'tobacco-leaf' pattern, with its distinctive broad leaves as a principal theme was possibly derived from European or Indian textile designs.
