Lot Essay

For a Qianlong-marked vase with a similar palette and design, see an example sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 1 May 1995, lot 660, as well as a vase illustrated by Ayers, Far Eastern Ceramics in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1980, fig. 220. Wares in this palette appear to have been produced only during the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong reigns, and are all decorated with designs that are exceptionally well rendered.
