Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the movement of the present watch in 1930. It was completed in 1955, encased in 1958 and sold on 10 July 1959. Furthermore delivered with the original fitted presentation box and original letter from Patek Philippe in Geneva dated 18 December 1985 confirming the sale of the watch to Henry Stern Watch Agency in New York, their distributors for the United States.
Reference 699/2 can be considered the direct predecessor of the celebrated reference 844. To date, only three examples of this model have been offered publicly, two of them in this saleroom:
The present watch bearing movement no. 198'374, case no. 699'653 and lot 306 on 16 November 2004, movement no. 198'372, case no. 699'652, sold for SFr. 109,940.
A variation of reference 699 was fitted with a two train movement and the minute repeating released through a button in the crown. Only two examples of this model, bearing reference 699/3, are known.
