With gilt-finished gut and fusée verge movement, finely chased, engraved and pierced floral decorated balance cock and foot, secured by a pin to a block in the top plate, steel two-armed pre-hairspring balance wheel, worm set-up with blued steel decorative mounts, ratchet and wheel regulation, turned pillars, the silver dial with engraved and blackened Roman numerals, half-hour divisions, inner quarter hour ring, single steel hand, in plain circular case, ring pendant and seven-piece hinge, movement signed

The present watch is a typical example of a so-called "Puritan" watch referring to the simplicity of its appearance and supposedly in character with the Puritan austerity.

The silver dial is easy to read and the double-ended hour hand allows it to be moved with the fingers easily and without damages.

These watches usually had outer cases as an extra protection against damage and dust. These cases were often lost over the centuries.
