Signed Duchesne a Paris, circa 1690
With gilt brass verge movement, chain fusée, the large balance cock set with the polychrome enamel painted portrait of a lady, plain three arm steel balance, rack and pinion regulator with calibrated silver disk, pierced Egyptian pillars, the gilt dial with black Roman numerals on white enamel cartouches, inner white enamel ring with half-hour indication, centred by a polychrome painted enamel landscape scene in the manner of Huaud, in large circular case with finely chased and engraved foliate decoration, movement signed

The present watch is illustrated in Tardy's Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, p. 194. It was part of the Bloch-Pimentel Collection sold in Paris at Hotel Drouot in 1961, comprising 16th to 19th century watches, coach watches, automatons and clocks.
