PROBABLY MAZANDERAN, NORTH IRAN, 15/16TH CENTURY
Probably originally from a cenotaph, comprising one long upper beam, two long lower beams, and one short lower beam, each carved with an elegant naskh inscription left proud against a matted ground, plain bands above and below, slight old damages

Lot Essay

The inscriptions are all from the Qur'an XXXVI surat ya-sin.
On the short piece vv.1-6; on the other three vv.7-11, 14-17 and 18-20.
