A LARGE QAJAR MONOCHROME LACQUER PAPIER MACHE QALAMDAN
IRAN, DATED POSSIBLY AH 1260/1844 AD
With rounded ends and sliding tray, the top and sides painted in gold on a black ground with floral sprays, the red base and tray with gold floral panels, the underside also with a date possibly reading 1260, the tray fitted with a silver triple inkwell, the tray also fitted with a secret compartment pulling out from the other end of the tray when it itself has been removed from the case, slight damage and repair to ends, re-lacquered
