Late 19th century, impressed monogram and sceptre and H
Fine painted after Anthony Van Dyke (1599 - 1641) with the Prine of Wales in a gold satin suit, the Duke of York in lace cap and pink robe and Mary in blue satin with lace-edged overskirt, standing before elaborate purple drapery, a Persian carpet and two spaniels at their feet
8 5/8 x 10¾ in. (22 x 27.4 cm.), in a giltwood frame of flowering branches

Lot Essay

This is after Van Dyke's portrait of the children of Charles I and Henrietta Maria; the Price of Wales (later Charles II), the Duke of York (later James II) and Mary (later Princess of Orange). There are three versions, one in Windsor Castle, one in the Galleria Sabauda, Turin and one in Dresden.
