Lot Essay

The Château de Maulmont-Randan, located in the Auvergne near Vichy and until well into the 20th century a residence of the Orléans family. Louis Philippe's grandson, Ferdinand, duc de Montpensier died there in 1921. It is now a resort hotel. The present basket will have been made for a dessert service destined for this hunting retreat.
