The border with a garland of forget-me-nots on a yellow band above the iridescent claret ground, comprising: a teapot and cover (théière 'Fragonard' et sa couvercle), a milk-jug (pot à lait 'companière'), a sugar-bowl (pot à sucre 'Fragonard'), eight cups and saucers (20)

Lot Essay

The present déjeuner originally included six more cups and saucers. It is likely one of two described as fond poupre et zone Nankin (purple ground with a Chinese yellow band) entered in the sales inventory 4 December 1830. One was sold to an unknown client. The other acquired by M. Petit 31 May 1837.
