Lot Essay

The present vase of 1854 is identical to a set of four ordered for the château de Compiègne. Ordered the same year, the four were delivered to the Mobilier de la Couronne 2 November 1858 and entered into the inventory of the furnishings at the château the same day. See Brigitte Ducrot, Porcelaines et terres de Sèvres, musée national du château de Compiègne, Paris, 1993, no. 165 (C615C and C656C).
