The oblong reserve within a Belgian black marble setting with concaved corners, within a foliate-carved giltwood frame

Lot Essay

Please see lot 368 for a note on St. Peter's Square. The presence of the four large lamps surrounding the central obelisk date the present micromosaic to after 1852, when the lighting was added to the Square.
