Naturalistically modelled standing on one leg atop a rocky mound, an eel clasped in his beak, the vase formed by tall bulrushes and water-lily pads

John Henk, son of Christian Henk, apprenticed at the firm in 1859 and rose to Chief Staff Modeller specializing in majolica animals.
