Depicting a putto on turquoise ground clutching a blue and white pitcher, a piece of purple drapery trailing behind him

See Théodore Deck ou L'éclat des émaux 1823-1891, Musées de Marseille, p.132, nos. 108 & 109 for similar examples. Jules-Antoine Legrain was a student of Léon Cogniet, Joseph Robert-Fleury & Antoine Hébart, showing watercolours regularly at the Salon de Paris 1865-75. He was awarded a medal for his work on faïence at the Exposition of Vienna 1873 and painted large figures on the porch of the Beaux Arts pavilion at the Exposition Universelle Paris 1878.
