Alan and Rita Shenton, Collectable Clocks, Antique Collectors' Club, 1994, p.390.
The original patents were taken out by Max Hoeft in 1899, for an essentially mechanical clock with its spring being rewound by an electromagnet. Further patents (10960 and 10961) were taken out in 1901 by Max Moeller of Altona, Germany.
