AN EDWARDIAN SILVER FIVE-PIECE TEA-SERVICE AND A PLATED TRAY
The tea-set, mark of The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co. Ltd., London, 1909
Comprising a tea-kettle on stand, coffee-pot, teapot, milk-jug and sugar-bowl, compressed bombé circular on floral, foliate and shell platform feet, and with floral, shell, and acanthus borders on a partly textured ground, with foliate-capped handles, the tea-kettle, coffee-pot and teapot with hinged covers with pomegranate finials, the handles with ivory insulators, each piece engraved with a crowned initial, marked on bases and covers, kettle-stand and light; together with a plated tray, oblong with two handles, elaborately cast with acanthus and foliate scrolls
the coffee-pot - 8¼ in. (21 cm.) high; the tray - 33¼ in. (84.5 cm.) long
the silver pieces - gross 122oz. (3,822 gr.)
The initial and crown is for Umberto II, King of Italy (1904-1983) (6)
