In School and Out of School; or, The History of William and John

London: Dean and Munday, 1827. 12mo. (5¾ x 3¾in; 148 x 94mm), engraved frontispiece and 2 plates by S. Bellin after E. Seymour (heavy staining on C3-5, occasional soiling), original printed boards (rebacked in cloth, new endpapers).

First published by William Jones in 1825. The plate "The play ground described" shows a game of cricket with injury to a fielder, and the description of the game in chapters 12-14 includes some on-pitch dialogue between fielders and batsmen which could well be described as "sledging". Padwick 6949; not in BL.
