Mason, 1844. 8vo., 22p. + advertisement leaf, 8 etched portraits with aquatint, 4 folding, printed slip between pp. 10-11 giving alterations to "the Law relating to wide balls" (first three plates spotted, one or two slight tears along fold lines), original green cloth, upper cover gilt lettered (extremities rubbed, upper cover slightly discoloured). Provenance: Buck, Boston (bookseller's ticket).
ISSUE WITH 8 PORTRAITS, published at 3s. 6d. The portraits of the "Four Gentlemen" (Kynaston, Langdon, Taylor and Mynn) are signed by C. Hunt after C.J. Basébe, and are all folding. Allen 45; Goldman p. 126: "very rare indeed"; Taylor p. 66: "a very rare publication"; Padwick 386.
