London: James Lillywhite, [1872-1900]. 29 vols., 8vo., plates, diagrams of field positions, 1873 with errata slip (1872 with one leaf detached, 1875 lacks pp. 179-186 and possibly 175-76, and has several leaves detached, frontispiece and title of 1884 and 1886 rather browned), original printed flexible red cloth (some rubbing and dust soiling).

The last of the Lillywhites which incorporates John Lillywhite's Cricketer's Companion from 1885 onwards. 1874 contains wood-engraved portraits of W.G. Grace and Southerton, and 1875 wood-engravings of Lockwood and Jupp. Each volume from 1876 to 1888 contains a mounted photograph as frontispiece. From 1889 onwards the photographic print is replaced by a half tone reproduction. In this set, the 1872 first issue is "third edition". Britton p. 27; Goldman p. 126; Taylor p. 66; Padwick 1087. (29)
