Kensington: Favil Press, 1921-38. 6 vols., 8vo., titles printed in red and black with woodcut press device, mounted photograph at front of vol. I, half-tone frontispiece in the other vols., vol. II with two plates (light spotting in later vols., frontispiece of vol. V creased at corner), original cloth in contrasting colours, vol. I with paper label on front cover, other vols. with spines lettered in black, uncut (slight soiling and discolouration). Provenance: Reginald L. Hine (vols. I-II only? VOL I. A PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed "R.L.H. -- whose name passes too seldom across these pages -- from C[lifford] B[ax] January 1922", and with Hine's bookplate; vol. II with Hine's name in pencil) -- J.W. Goldman (bookplate in all but one vol.; his initialled pencil note in vol. V stating, "This is the last edition edited by Clifford Bax. See Derby Sketch 8-8-1933").
FINE SET. Vols. I-III with stated limitation of 36 to 50 copies. Vol. VI with loosely-inserted double-leaf menu, "O.B.'s Dinner to Their Captain Clifford Bax," signed by Clifford and Arnold Bax, Padraic Column, and 12 others in pencil. Bax's team had a strong literary flavour, counting Alec Waugh and A.G. Macdonnell among its members. Goldman p. 150; Padwick 1308. (6)
